Call for medal design proposals for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026
News
The AINAGOC (hereinafter referred to as the “Organizing Committee”) is soliciting winning medal design proposals for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 (hereinafter referred to as the “Asian Games”).
※This acceptance period was extended as of April 22.
・Those living in Japan at the time of submission, planning to reside in Japan during the selection period (scheduled to run from March to July 2024), and able to communicate in Japanese
・Students or graduates majoring in design and those who have worked in a design-related field
・Individual or group (up to 10 people)
*In the case of a group, the representative must meet the age and other qualifications (above).
(If the representative meets the qualifications, the other members do not have to meet the qualifications.)
* Submissions by companies will be not accepted.
Medal designs for the Asian Games (front and back)
2. Design concept
Describe the medal design concept for each of the Asian Games in up to 200 words.
*If a particular person submits four or more works (four sets or more) (including as an individual, as a member of a group, and as a member of multiple groups), all of that person’s entries will be disqualified.
*Submission by other methods will not be accepted.

2. Photos and descriptions of three-dimensional objects previously created and presented by the applicant
‣Up to two A4 size pages, vertical (any format) (The object in the image must be recognizable as a three-dimensional object.)
‣If there is anything unclear about the photo or the description, we may contact the applicant directly for confirmation.

*Works by different applicants may be selected as candidate proposals for the respective games.
*The prize money is the same for individuals and groups.
March 25, 2024: Begin accepting medal design proposals
May 10, 2024: End of acceptance of medal design proposals
From March to July 2024: Confirmation of application qualifications, etc.
Review, selection/adjustment of candidate designs by the Medal Design Review Committee
July 2024: Approval of the design by the OCA and the APC, report to the Executive Board
*Regarding the announcement of the medal design, we will consider effective timing to build momentum as the Games approach.
・All costs associated with the submission are the responsibility of the applicant.
・If it is found that any intellectual property rights or other rights related to the submitted work have been assigned, transferred or offered as security to a third party, in whole or in part, or that any application or registration procedures for the said work have been filed or completed after the submission, his/her submission will be invalidated.

From noon on Monday, March 25, 2024 to noon on Friday, May 10, 2024(3) Eligibility
・Must be 18 years of age or older as of April 1, 2024・Those living in Japan at the time of submission, planning to reside in Japan during the selection period (scheduled to run from March to July 2024), and able to communicate in Japanese
・Students or graduates majoring in design and those who have worked in a design-related field
・Individual or group (up to 10 people)

(4) Contents of submission

3. Screening/Selection
(1) Confirmation of application qualifications, etc
We will confirm that the applicant's profile meets the application requirements and that the work submitted meets the production requirements.(2) Selection of candidate design proposals by Medal Design Review Committee
An Expert Medal Design Review Committee will be established. The Committee will review design proposals submitted by qualified applicants and select candidate designs.*Works by different applicants may be selected as candidate proposals for the respective games.
(3) Adjusting candidate design proposals
Designs selected as candidate proposals by the Expert Medal Design Review Committee will be finalized after discussion and adjustment from a manufacturing perspective by the applicant of the selected work, the committee members (industrial designers), and the medal manufacturers.(4) Deciding on design
The design for the Asian Games will be decided upon after approval by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).4. Prize money
500,000 yen (tax included) to the creator of the work selected for the Asian Games*The prize money is the same for individuals and groups.

6. Main notes
・If the applicant publishes the submitted work before the medal design has been decided and announced, his/her submission will be invalidated.・All costs associated with the submission are the responsibility of the applicant.
