Call for official mascot design proposals for the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026)

The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (hereinafter referred to as the “Organizing Committee”) is soliciting design ideas for the official mascot of the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026).

1. Submission details

　Mascot designs for the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026)

2. Acceptance period for submissions

　From noon on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 to noon on Thursday, April 4, 2024

3. Submission requirements

(1) Eligibility

・Must be 18 years of age or older as of March 1, 2024
・Those who have Japanese nationality or reside in Japan (those who have a certificate of residence in Japan)
・Individual or group (up to 10 people)
*In the case of a group, the representative must meet the age and other qualifications (above).
(If the representative meets the qualifications, the other members do not have to meet the qualifications.)
* Submissions by companies are not accepted.

(2) Works for submission

・Basic mascot design
・Mascot design by sport
・Character setup for a mascot (its name, profile, characteristics, production intent, etc.)

(3) Contents of submission

Number of works: Up to three works per person (individual) or per group
*If a particular person submits four or more works (including as an individual, as a member of a group, and as a member of multiple groups), all of that person’s entries will be disqualified.

・Basic mascot design
* Create two basic poses for the mascot (front and back).

・Mascot design by sport
*Select two sports per basic design, and create mascot poses for each sport.

4. Submission method

Design works should be submitted using the designated application form on the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Mascot Design Submission Site (hereinafter referred to as the “Submission site”).
*Submission by other methods is not accepted.
・Download and use the Game emblem data from the Submission site.
・Presentation data for the basic mascot design and mascot design by sport must be created in a jpg file (including jpeg, within 2 MB) or a pdf file (within 2 MB).

5. Selection method

(1) The Production Review Committee, consisting of outside experts, will review the production policy (including the method of selecting candidate design proposals from the submitted works) to select multiple design proposals.
(2) Solicit public opinion on the candidate design proposals selected by the Production Review Committee
(3) A Selection Committee consisting of external experts will be established to select a final design proposal (one proposal) from the candidate design proposals, taking into account public opinions.
(4) The final design proposal will be discussed with the Executive Board, and a decision will be made and announced.

6. Prize money

・Selected work: 1 million yen (tax included)
・Reviewed work: 100,000 yen (tax included)*
* Candidate design proposals reviewed by the Selection Committee (excluding the winning work)

7. Schedule (planned)

March 20, 2024: Begin accepting mascot design proposals
　April 4, 2024: End of acceptance of mascot design proposals
　Early April 2024: The Production Review Committee will select several candidate design proposals from the submissions.
　By mid-May 2024: Soliciting public opinion on the several candidate design proposals
　By mid to late May 2024: The Selection Committee will select the final proposal (one) from the several candidate design proposals.
　Late May 2024: The final plan will be discussed and approved by the Executive Board, then announced to the public.

8. Main notes

・If the applicant publishes the submitted work before the mascot design has been decided and announced, his/her submission will be invalidated.
・All costs associated with the submission are the responsibility of the applicant, and submitted work will not be returned.
・If it is found that any intellectual property rights or other rights related to the submitted work have been assigned, transferred or offered as security to a third party, in whole or in part, or that any application or registration procedures for the said work have been filed or completed after the submission, his/her submission will be invalidated.
・The screening and selection process will be announced on the Submission site from time to time.
